Our growth story is only worth telling if it's built on responsible practice. As we expand across the Pilbara, we remain committed to minimising our environmental footprint, protecting the cultural heritage of the land we operate on, and giving more back to surrounding communities than we take out.
Our Approach
SRT Mining Group has committed to Scope 1 and 2 net-zero by 2034 — the most ambitious decarbonisation target of any Pilbara copper producer. We are already 40% of the way there, driven by the Turner River Solar Microgrid and a pipeline of further renewable and efficiency investments tied to our Stage 5 expansion.
Sustainability at SRT is not a separate programme — it is built into how we make capital decisions, how we manage our operations day-to-day, and how we engage with the Kariyarra people and the Port Hedland community. We report against the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework, and the ICMM Mining Principles. Our ESG performance data is independently assured by ERM Certification and Verification Services.

Our Three Pillars
Every major decision at SRT Mining Group is assessed against our three sustainability pillars. They are not aspirational — they are embedded in our governance framework and measured quarterly by the Board's Environment, Safety & Sustainability Committee.
Net-zero Scope 1 and 2 by 2034. Our Turner River Solar Microgrid — 48MW of on-site solar generation — already offsets 62% of site electricity demand. A 120MWh battery storage system is under construction, due online Q1 FY2027.
73% of total process water is recycled within the circuit. 680 hectares of previously disturbed land has been progressively rehabilitated and independently certified to DEMIRS standards.
Zero harm, no compromises. We have maintained a Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate below 1.5 for seven consecutive years. Our workforce is 41% female — the highest proportion of any Pilbara copper operation — and rising.
A$14.2M was invested in training and development in FY2025. All engineers have a personal development plan, and we fund Engineers Australia chartership pathways for early-career staff.
We operate with integrity — doing what is right and what we say we will do. As a wholly owned subsidiary of SRT Group, we are subject to rigorous group-wide governance standards and independent audit processes across all operational and financial activities.
A zero-tolerance approach to bribery and corruption is embedded across the business. All employees complete annual Code of Conduct and anti-bribery training. An independent whistleblower hotline is operated by Stopline.
Environment
In 2025, SRT Mining Group formalised its commitment to achieve net-zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2034. This is the most ambitious decarbonisation target of any Pilbara copper producer, and we have set out a credible pathway to achieve it.
The Turner River Solar Microgrid is the cornerstone of our decarbonisation programme. Stage 1 (24MW) was commissioned in 2022 — the first renewable energy installation at a Pilbara copper operation of this scale. Stage 2 brought total capacity to 48MW in September 2025, now offsetting 62% of site electricity demand.
A 120MWh battery energy storage system is under construction alongside our Stage 5 expansion, due online in Q1 FY2027. When operational, the combined solar and battery system will provide reliable renewable generation across a full 24-hour cycle, reducing diesel backup generation to below 8% of site energy use.
Beyond energy, our Stage 5 environmental approvals include strengthened water management requirements, an expanded rehabilitation commitment, and new biodiversity offset conditions across our Pilbara tenement package.

Safety & People
Every person who comes to work at SRT Mining Group goes home. That is the only acceptable outcome, and it shapes everything — how we design our circuits, how we manage change, how we respond to incidents, and how we treat near-misses.
We have maintained a Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate below 1.5 for seven consecutive years. Our safety management system is certified to ISO 45001:2018 and is audited annually by an independent external body. A dedicated safety leadership team of 18 operates across all shifts at Turner River.
Mental health is part of our safety programme, not a separate consideration. A mental health support room is available at the Turner River Village, a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme is in place for all employees and their families, and all supervisors complete mental health first aid training.
Community
SRT Mining Group has invested more than $48M in community infrastructure, education, and First Nations partnerships across the Pilbara since 2010. That number grows every year.
A $12M investment in a purpose-built trades and engineering training facility in South Hedland — providing nationally accredited qualifications to 400 trainees per year, with guaranteed pathways into SRT Mining Group roles upon completion.
In partnership with the Town of Port Hedland, SRT Mining Group co-funded a $9.4M community health and recreation precinct — delivering a medical clinic, gym, aquatic centre, and family sporting facilities to the South Hedland community.
Our long-term agreement with the Kariyarra people — the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we operate — includes employment targets, cultural heritage protections, heritage ranger programmes, and joint environmental management across all of our Pilbara tenements. The Kariyarra agreement is reviewed every three years in a process led jointly by the Kariyarra Aboriginal Corporation and SRT Mining Group's Community Relations team.
