Our Programs
SRT Mining Group operates at the technical frontier of copper and gold production. We recruit specifically in four engineering disciplines where we do genuinely specialised, niche work — environmental compliance, mechanical integrity, electrical systems, and process chemistry. If your degree is in one of these areas, we will have a project worth your time.
Program 01
A 10–12 week paid engineering internship in the Pilbara. You'll be embedded in a technical team with a real scope, real deadlines, and work that ends up in front of our engineering leadership.
The SRT Vacation Program places engineering students inside one of four specialist technical teams at our Turner River operation. This is not a shadow placement — you will be assigned a discrete project within your discipline and expected to deliver a formal output by the end of your placement.
Recent vacation students have conducted environmental impact assessments for our Stage 5 expansion, completed fatigue analysis on processing plant structures, developed arc flash studies for high-voltage switchboards, and modelled hydrometallurgical leach circuit performance under variable feed grades. The work is technically demanding and the problems are real.
Program 02
A 4–6 week technical introduction to engineering in the resources sector — designed for first and second year students who want to understand the discipline areas before they've committed to a specialisation.
The SRT Discovery Program is a structured January placement for students in their first or second year of an engineering degree. You'll rotate across two technical teams, attend engineering reviews and site briefings, and complete a short technical assignment with direct coaching from a senior engineer.
The program is deliberately designed to show you what each discipline actually looks like in a resource environment — the difference between environmental compliance work and environmental consulting, how electrical and mechanical engineering interact in a live plant, and what process chemistry looks like at scale.
Program 03
A two-year rotational graduate program for final year students and recent graduates in our four core engineering disciplines — structured to build genuine technical depth, not a generalist overview.
The SRT Graduate Program places you across three rotations over two years, each in a different application of your core engineering discipline. An environmental engineer might move from environmental compliance and EPBC approvals, to site rehabilitation planning, to water management for the Stage 5 expansion — developing deep specialist knowledge rather than a broad but shallow exposure to the business.
You'll be assigned a Chartered or Senior Engineer as a technical mentor, with a dedicated graduate program manager responsible for your development plan. Graduates who complete the program and meet performance benchmarks are placed directly at Grade 3 Engineer level — typically a two to three year jump ahead of the standard graduate pathway in the industry.
